Goddess Saraswati shows Lila the light body

I had to share this with my friends, as these words are just so thrilling. I'm reading The Concise Yoga Vāsiṣṭha By Swami Venkatesananda, and adding excerpts at the Living Metaphysics group.
The book has startling insights, including some that we consider of the light world today. Another contemporary ancient text! Sage Vāsiṣṭha is meant to have come from Lord Vishnu, and was the first Sage. The actual book, which was set down much later, at variously in the 6th to 14th century, fills several volumes.
The Yoga Vāsiṣṭha consists of spiritual instruction given to Lord Rama by Sage Vāsiṣṭha.
Imagine that we can have a glimpse of that amazing gathering through the pages of a book!

This excerpt is from the story of Queen Lila-[pronounced as Leela]-who
is seeking to see the true form of her dead husband, King Padma..The Goddess of
knowledge, Saraswati, is giving her insights and helping her to
experience it. She tells her that in another lifetime, she was Arundhati, wife of Sage Vāsiṣṭha.
The woman’s name, Lila, is itself of importance. According to Wikipedia :”Within monism, Lila is a way of describing all reality, including the cosmos, as the outcome of creative play by the divine absolute (Brahman). In the dualistic schools of Vaishnavism, Lila more simply refers to the activities of God and his devotees, as distinct from the common activities of karma.”
An excerpt [emphasis and explanations mine]:

Goddess Saraswati : “O Lila, give up this form of yours and attain the pure spiritual insight. For only Brahman can really see or realize Brahman.
My body is made of pure light, pure consciousness. Your body is not.
With this body of yours you cannot even visit the places of your own
imagination. Then how can you enter the field of another’s imagination?
But if you attain the body of light, you will immediately see the holy man’s house[what you are seeking to see].
Affirm
to yourself :‘“I shall leave my body here and take a body of light.
With that body, like the scent of incense I shall go to the house of
the holy man.’
Even as water mixes with water, you will become one with the field of consciousness.
By the persistent practice of such meditation,
even your body will become one of pure consciousness and subtle. For, I
see even my body as consciousness. You do not, for you see the world of
matter.
Such ignorance arises out of its own accord, but is dispelled by wisdom and inquiry.
In fact such ignorance does not even exist! There is neither unwisdom nor ignorance ; neither bondage, nor liberation.
There is but one pure consciousness.”

These words are thrilling! We have heard them in our meditations.
I remember the day I realized suddenly :”Only God can know God.”
To read the words above, in a beautifully translated version of the Yoga Vāsiṣṭha, is
just an amazing and delightful affirmation of the words themselves.

thanks so much for sharing this with us and such beautiful pictures too
there is so much light on Gaia - love Tai
Thanks meenakshi…just attended Saraswatipuja yesterday. Although I was born as Buddhist, she is my favorite goddess as my passion is knowledge. Also i love arts and music. Saraswati’s spoken words very much resonates with my own experience of lightbody… and entering the realm of pure imagination and dreams. Wonderful story.
Really beautiful and uplifting…the line that resonates for me is:
“Even as water mixes with water, you will become one with the field of consciousness.”
Only God can know God, but writing like this gives us a glimpse of the divine within all.
I enjoy it so much when we come across writing that is in keeping with our experience…it sort of shows us how truth is ageless. And found everywhere, in the same way. If I’d read it as a child, before hearing of the “light” as much as we here now, perhaps other aspects of the words would have struck me.
Perhaps tomorrow, something else will stand out!
God is in light form, our body of the inner most form too light, light years of travelling. Sun is also light. Ramalingaswamy of Tamil nadu too had the body in light form. It was so bright, he used to cover the entire body except his face, palms and feet. People who were considered dead in the hospital due to heart trouble and again came to life back have described that they met God in the light form. We worship light because of this. Aura of from bodies and also colours also due to the light inside. Accepting your version and thanks for reminding these facts to me once again.
Reading this is like time bending back into itself. Thank you, Sanmugan.
What a beautiful post..we are in light .During a NDE,I was blessed to experience myself as light and to read it in historical writings from the 6th century lets me know that it was real. You are a light in this world, thank you.
NDE! I must read up about your experience. I couldn’t find it, Ralph. Can you provide a link if you’ve blogged about it; or describe it here, if you would like to?
I will condense it……I was surfing very big waves in South Africa and the lip of one hit me in the back, crushing me into my surfboard and forcing all the air out of my lungs.I was pushed down very deep, panicked and subsequently ran out of air.I realized I was going to drown,no question. As soon as I committed to death,it was like an immediate change of scene,I became light,a vague ectoplasmic form, floating in light. The best way to describe it would be ..to say close your eyes and see yourself, that is somewhat similar. There was however a very loving, benevolence surrounding me,I felt very peaceful….I felt some energy near me that I thought I recognised and tried to float towards it….At that point my head crowned the surface and my conciousness returned,I took a large breath…and lived.I still remember the event very clearly and am able to travel in and out of that that space when I am working on clients,it reveals information to me in subtle ways and I use it intuitively……Thank you for you interest..I appreciate you so much here…..love Rafael
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Rafael. What a blessing to have found a healing space that you experienced in such an intense way. I wonder if you heard any sound…but I’m asking too many questions ;p
No judgement…good question…I had to really re-call,I believe it was really quiet..I want to say I was beyond having ears..if that makes sense..
