Change yourself, they said
For I cannot see your light
Don't feel your love or your caring
Can only see your might
Don't speak! they said
Just listen to my cry
For my needs drum in my ears
And your words distract
Be different, they said
For you are hiding what you feel
You do not show what you are
And your actions surprise
So I changed and I changed
turning and turning
Their anger and their fear
Made me go deeper within
And when I went within
I found that it was light
The light within shone clear
Their eyes were dimmed in fear
They could not see their light
So they struck out in fright
Distraught, confused, in fear
Not going deeper within
Buffeted by ocean waves
I dove into the depths
Whipped by winds of rage
Turned to the still within
From within the ocean depths arose a fountain of such might
That some who saw it, cried --no! That's too much light!
Stay at the ocean waves, don't leave the chaos just yet
For we need you, but we do not see your light
Namaste, said the soft voice
I see the light within you
Light within me reaches the ilght within you
And bathes the chaos in bliss
For I cannot see your light
Don't feel your love or your caring
Can only see your might
Don't speak! they said
Just listen to my cry
For my needs drum in my ears
And your words distract
Be different, they said
For you are hiding what you feel
You do not show what you are
And your actions surprise
So I changed and I changed
turning and turning
Their anger and their fear
Made me go deeper within
And when I went within
I found that it was light
The light within shone clear
Their eyes were dimmed in fear
They could not see their light

Distraught, confused, in fear

That some who saw it, cried --no! That's too much light!

Namaste, said the soft voice
I see the light within you
Light within me reaches the ilght within you

Help

Namaste dear Meenakshi,
Thank you for this profound truth. Thanks also for feeding my soul this morning my friend.
Wow, M, I so can relate to this incredible passage. So potent, powerful… Did you write it for me in this moment? tee hee…I am you in another form …bathes the chaos in bliss. Namaste
When I wrote, how little I knew that such light and warmth would visit my blog. Thank you dear friends.
dear one, it is not easy being a powerful female at times, especially as a child and young adult! you have expressed your journey in a beautiful poetic way, so very clearly and honestly and moving toward Light.
Much love
Holding your hand, young Nicole. Lightly.
Glad to have stopped by your blog, only to see such deep, beautiful words!
As you say
“I see the light within you”, your light is so bright, that it can not help but reach out and reach all of us, including humble me, even if at times I seem far away from Gaia. Thanks for letting it shine, strong one!
Phoenix, so delightful to see you here.
interesting how you “changed”, and when you did, it wasn't the change asked for but you stuck with it anyway because it was what fed you…
this was so beautifully put together, so loud and clear, and softly spoken

So beautifully written! So moving. As Amber said “this was so beautifully put together, so loud and clear, and softly spoken.”
Thank you mom Judi and daughter Amber! I'm doubly blessed! I found it so strange that it was so easy for me to change–we have so many facets to ourselves; and so difficult for those who asked me to do so, to then accept me when I did exactly what they wanted. I realize that sometimes the greatest compassion is to be still; to allow the one who is uncomfortable, to make their own internal adjustments, and to be - in hindi we say 'sthir' ; staying very clear, very still and only internal movements. Of course, then if they have fear, they'll sense that you're 'hiding' and be fearful or angry. So…keeping energy clear. [all reminders to myself!]
After all - as within, so without!
HummingBird, bowing back at the honor of your presence here.
Oh my Oh my !!!!!! Recognition !!!
Not just the content, but the poetic form, so inspiring! Thank you thank you, Meenakshi. Yes, you are feeding our souls, simply by sharing yours.
My favorite spiritual teachers used to say “Your presence is enough.” In some way you seem to have reached that point of understanding.
Bless you bless you,
OM Bastet
Meenakshi, well done :-)
holding my hand lightly? and I am young Nicole? sorry, my friend, I find myself confused by your statements of late. hoping we can talk soon.
“Namaste, said the soft voice
I see the light within you
Light within me reaches the ilght within you
And bathes the chaos in bliss”
Namaste, dear, dear Meenaskshi. Namaste.

Thank you friends, Dawn, OM, Earon..what a delight!
ah Nicole, yes, talking will be enjoyable. for me, everything that is light is LIGHT; and 'young Nicole' is a way that in India we speak to each other in my generation; it was just a fun thing among friends. I'm increasingly learning [always knew of course] that words can cause such problems when spoken informally!!! In online forums, another change is required
Be more formal or be very very clearly informal.
Phew! so though I always feel I'm the oldest everywhere I also always feel that I'm the one needing to learn the most.
as i realized while writing —as within so without. It's I who seeks that change within me. Not 'another'.
Not to worry, Meenakshi, wherever you are I both are, I am the older by about a couple of decades. At least, that's the way it is nowadays. I might get younger……
LOL!!
Love, OM
So, this morning I was trying to remember what it was like before all this conditioning got layered in. I asked myself that.
Then I thought about the question Adyashanti asked, does this current situation of life require that I insert “me” in it? And I remembered his pointing to stillness… not as a practice just what is naturally here.
In the swirl of inner plumbing, I remembered back to age 11 when I finally had the guts to ask my parents what is all the fuss about? I have been wondering that ever since quite honestly except….. I forgot to ask myself. ;o)
And I remembered a friend said recently (paraphrased)… well you know being heart centered you just know and trust everything is ok. You don't have to work or go through a lot of analysis to get there, and then….
I see this poem and knew that the universe was doing everything it possibly could to help, and now I have tears of joy writing to you about it.
In Gratitude!

Namaste dear friend. How fortuitous to come across your blog at this moment, as i am making sense of some encounters i had experienced a number of years ago. less light! less light! they cried… and for awhile, i listened to “them” and dimmed my bulb so as not to blind them… now, of course, i realize that the light was always shining brightly beneath the mud that had been thrown upon the glass… and the water is washing it all away… the tears were worth it because now the light is luminous.
Namaste, Namaste, Namaste!
Wow! Zennie, when I read your words, I started to glance back at what I had written had been written–and then I saw what I could not have, from just letting them flow. Thank you for shining beauty into them.
Nishtha, I am deeply moved by your comments; and dear friend –yes! Let's keep it shining; no need to get lost in compassion for fear; it is time to evoke that light and let it shine. Just shine….
Namastasye namastasye namastasye namo namaha

I am glad we were able to connect yesterday. Looking forward to talking further with you sometime next week, after Tuesday. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank YOU for the honor of your visit, dear Tai. For you to comment on poetry, you who can speak so much in such few words, is a wonder indeed.
Thank you Nicole.
Silently, in deep appreciation.
