Is Community Compassion?

Posted on May 4th, 2008 by Meenakshi : Wholeness Meenakshi
After blogging about Courage, clarity, commitment, communication yesterday, I began to read Friends' blogs; I just don't get around to doing it daily, as I used to.

Partly, it's because of being occupied by my pods; and partly, of course, by that off-line life! Still been cooking, meditating, driving kids around,  being under the weather, as no doubt a shift is taking place.

As I read their blogs, I was struck by how I found examples of all four of those C's. Dave  asked me, what brought these thoughts on. And when I read these blogs, I felt: it is this. it is this. it is this.

And i kept adding comments to my own blog!!! I wanted to link all those remarkable works of communication, where Gaians are showing their commitment to clear  communication with courage, openness, and if you really look at it, compassion.

We sometimes think that compassion means to feel kindly or loving towards someone else, when we are fine and they are not. This is what the dictionary meanings seem to suggest as well. But after the awakening that is happening in the world today, the teachings of the Buddha and others; I don't look at compassion just as suffering together.

I feel ithat compassion is empathizing with feeling.

And that comes with communication.

So--are there 5Cs of Community:Courage, clarity, commitment, communication and compassion?

Or is there really just one? COMPASSION, that lovingly embraces them all?

is that what Community is--compassion?

Yes, I think community means communing as one (from unity) with compassion. All your other Cs - courage, clarity, commitment - merge into effective loving communication or communication with passion or in short ‘compassion’. Does that make sense?

LOL! I really did, Helen. Thanks.  So perhaps rather than saying “Community is compassion?” I should say community helps us to develop compassion….and compassion allows community.
