Traveling to Egypt

Posted on Dec 25th, 2008 by Meenakshi : Connection Meenakshi
We're going on a family vacation to Egypt.

It's a land of magic, and seems to call out to so many people! We'll probably see more tourists than Egyptians.

But also Rameses, the Sphinx, that wondrous river Nile, that has earned Egypt it's epithet of Gift of the Nile.

A land continuously  civilized since thousands of years, almost from the dawn of history.

It has been continuously explored, studied, filmed, documented by archeologists, explorers, spiritualists, historians from all over the world; yet mysteries abound and there is much to be discovered still.

Surprisingly, we can forget that  its Arab population actually lives in Africa. My son reminds me that we all have roots in Africa**. It's the " motherland of motherlands", he says.

We're going home.

**Research confirms theory that all modern humans descended from the same small group of people May 8th, 2007 in General Science / Biology

The research confirms the “Out Of Africa” hypothesis that all modern humans stem from a single group of Homo sapiens who emigrated from Africa 2,000 generations ago and spread throughout Eurasia over thousands of years. These settlers replaced other early humans (such as Neanderthals), rather than interbreeding with them.

How exciting. Travel is THE best education.

Don’t forget to come home with some Egyptian perfumed oils. They are the best. The Nile Valley is one of the premiere fragrance flower growing places in the world.

Have a great trip!

I went to Egypt back in 1992, and I loved it….there’s nothing quite like it. In fact—and the timing of this is interesting—I’m working on a story about it (my experience with the 11-11 Activation) right now. Wild!

Anyway, have a wonderful time…can’t wait to hear about it!

Have an amazing trip M! I bought my son the board game “The game of Life,” similar to Monopoly. Both my son and I landed on the square “travel to Egypt to see the great pyramids, pay x dollars.” We played yesterday, when you made this blog post.
The only thing I can say is Photos, photos, photos.

Gr8 to see my friends now that I’m back! I changed my icon to showing that lovely River Nile, and will blog and upload photos soon. Fortunately, saw Egyptians–the ancient ones on walls, statues, legends, museum and orbs; the historical ones in books and stories; and the current ones around tourist sites!
