Learning Qigong

Learning something new is so energizing! And when it is qigong, which recently came into my life - and, I realize, came back - it reconnects at many different levels.
First, it was a dear friend who is teaching me. Then, I realized that in a series of synchronicities many years ago in Singapore, I had encountered a group of practitioners, and learned qi-gong from them. At first, it seemed so natural, as if I'd been doing it all my life- even the arm held sideways, which is usually very difficult for me. Perhaps because it is wonderful in a group, I did not continue it when I came to the U.S.
I would see people doing tai-chi, and get very drawn to it. Still am. But qigong---it brings to mind visions of the sacred mountains of China, and I feel an inner thrill beyond measure.
How well qigong fits with the practice of Reiki healing! China and Japan coming together.
And the Dao---you feel the words of Laotse move the mind as the movements of qigong move the body-mind-spirit.
Once when I was doing tai-chi, following the teacher on T.V., our cat friend Whiskers got all crazy and started doing his own cat brand of jumping yoga-taichi!
They say that qigong was learned from watching animals; perhaps animals sometimes remember this from watching humans?!

Help

I always come away from an encounter with you, thinking nothing is impossible.Thank-you for this lovely post
B.B.
B.B. What a lovely thing to say! You've warmed my heart.
My husband used to practise that. He even went to Japan to meet some master there. When I do yoga my dog often joins it. I love the fact that qigong was learned from watching animals. That is so neat. love, jen.
ps. I wrote a blog on Whirling Dervishes. Check it out sometime. I mentioned you.
Wow, so there's Qigong in Japan too! I shouldn't really be surprised; the countries have a lot in common.
OK- I'm hotfooting it to your blog now! Or shall I say…dancing like a dervish?
I made a mistake, he did practice qigong but he went to japan to study using qi. I guess this guy over there could use his energy to throw people ( not in bad away) around without touching them. rich has videos of it happening. The funny thing is that these people would be laughing hysterically. It was pretty funny.
LOL! I can imagine.
Painful too!
I was just reading more about quigong or chi kung. is that the same thing? in this taoism book I have and I have decided that i have to find out where I can learn it.
Yes; because it is translated, the word is variously written as qigong, chi-gung, and as you read, chi-kung.
